Would this still constitute copyright infringement?
August 18th, 2009 | by PC Blogger |I’m interested in scanning some pictures of old buildings from a book that has a stern copyright message from 1983 and putting them on a website.
“All rights reserved. No prt of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including phtocopying, recording, or by any other information storage and retrieval system, without permission in writing rom the publisher. ”
What if I scanned them, went into the photoshop and stylized them (e.g. they are black and white, so i’m thinkingabout making them blue-and-white. Or i could feather/crop them, or make them into a collage). Would this still be copyright infringement?
Oh but what is “50%”? =/
They are old pictures of penitentiaries, and yes I have done some googling, and the pics i found ewre generally under the same kinds of protections.
The website is due in a week, so I thought I’d spruce it up with quaint pictures. If it wasn’t so urgent I would definitely write the publisher for permission.
