I want to have the word Florida under my collage but would like to have it so that it looks like you are looking at the flag through the word. Can anyone explain how to do this? I want it to look like this

Find your American flag picture. Open it in Photoshop. Create a text layer using the font you want. Mouse over the thumbnail of your text layer and then select “select pixels”. The word should now be selected. Mouse over the thumbnail again and select rasterize type. Then Flatten the image.

Your text pixels are still selected at this point so go to Select-inverse. Then unlock the background image by double clicking the padlock next to the thumbnail image and when the little window comes up hit enter. Then hit delete. Then delete again. You now have the word in the pattern of the American Flag. Add a layer style like stroke to get the white outline and play with other layer styles like drop shadow till it is how you want it.
