How do I put pictures in segments to make one big picture? With Adobe Photoshop?

I Have Cs2 and want to learn how to make a collage type as this. but with only a two or three pictures not many. Also i want to learn ho to make my photos crisp as this. I have a nikon d90 that i saved up for and bought and about 80% of the time i get lighting down and have good shots but that other 20% theyre crap.
